Do you want to play baseball in 2012?
If you’re over 18 and like to play baseball, we want you! Many East Metro Baseball League (EMBL) teams are looking for players for the 2012 season.
The EMBL is an adult league that plays its games on WEEK NIGHTS at Newton and Salem High Schools, in Covington and Conyers.
How good do you have to be? Most guys in our league have played rec ball, high school ball, or college in the past. You don’t have to be a superstar, you just have to have a desire to get back to playing baseball again.
COST: The cost for the regular season and playoffs is around $250. So you do have to fork out some money (credit cards are accepted on the website) , but it’s a deal. You’ll play a lot of games, make new friends, and improve your physical health. That money could be blown in Vegas in about an hour, and you’ll likely have less to show for it!
We have 10-14 teams in our league and this is our 10th year.
The 18+ teams hit metal bats and the 35+ guys play wood. The pitchers will not blow you over, but in the 18+ league, some of the top pitchers are in the mid to high 80’s. In the 35+ league, they pitch, well, a lot slower!
The top team in our 18+ league is the River Rats, who set an Men’s Senior Baseball League (MSBL) record of 82 games without a loss before the Diamondbacks finally beat them in a play off game. The Rats are rough, and they give the rest of the league something to shoot at.
In the 35+ league, the Mavericks have been the toughest team over the years, but last year a new team won the championship, the Yankees.
Here’s what to expect:
SPRING- the PRE-SEASON : In April we have a short (3-4 games) pre-season, which gives each team a chance to practice and see what kind of team they’re got
SUMMER: May through September-Regular Season-17-22 Games (includes playoffs). Generally, you’ll play once a week.
ALL STAR GAME and HR CONTEST: Games in both age divisons- always a lot of fun for the top players chosen by their teams.
FALL: Fall Ball- 3-4 games in the cool of the Fall.
