Mavs v Braves Playoffs
For the second consecutive year the Mavericks and Braves would face off in the EMBL semi-finals. In game one of the series Paul Adams would toe the rubber for the Braves against Tim Pearson of the Mavs. The Mavs would jump out to an early 1 run lead but it would not hold up against the Braves hot offense. The braves played stellar defense and the Mavs three week layoff was apparent as the Braves would take game one 7 – 2.
In game two of this series the Mavs would throw Mike Richards against Paul Adams again for the Braves. In game two Mike was at the top of his game holding down the Braves offense while the Mavs bats would shake off the rust to post 17 runs. The Mavs offense was highlighted by a home run off the scoreboard by David Hayman. The Mavericks would take game two 17 – 7
In the deciding game three of this series the Braves would throw Alan Koblitz against James Meyers of the Mavericks. The Mavericks would again jump out to an early lead scoring 2 runs in the 1st inning but the Braves would answer back scratching out 4 runs over the four innings. Both James and Alan would find there form keeping the score 4 -2 through six innings. The Mavericks offense would take control of the game in the bottom of the sixth as the Mavs rallied for 6 runs to take the lead. The Mavs would then turn the ball over to Mike Richards to close out the game and the series for the Mavs. Mavericks take game three 10 – 5 and the series 2 – 1.
